About the practice
An advice practice, kept deliberately small
Stillpoint Planning Co. is independent and fee-based. It works with owners of closely held businesses and takes on a limited number of relationships.
Why the practice exists
Owners of private companies are well served on the corporate side and poorly served on the personal one. There is usually an accountant, often a lawyer, sometimes a banker. What is missing is anyone whose job is the household: what it costs, what it depends on, and what would need to be true for the owner to have real choices.
Stillpoint was built to occupy that position and nothing else. It sells no products, manages no money and accepts no compensation from third parties, so the only thing it can offer is judgement, which is the only thing that position requires.
The practice is intentionally narrow. That narrowness is what allows the work to be done properly, and it is why some enquiries are declined at the first conversation.
What we publish about ourselves
This site makes no claims about assets, client numbers, years in operation, awards, rankings or professional designations. Where those things are relevant to a prospective client, they are provided directly, in writing, and can be verified independently. We would rather publish less than publish something a reader cannot check.
For the same reason there are no client testimonials here. Details of the practice's regulatory position, the jurisdictions it can serve, and the terms under which it operates are set out on the important information page and confirmed in writing before any engagement begins.
The name
A still point is the part of a rotating system that does not move. Owning a business is a rotating system: revenue, staff, obligations and opportunity all turning at once. The work here is to establish the part that holds steady: the household's requirements, written down, so that everything else can be judged against something fixed.
